An Unpromising Landscape

A collection of mainly urban images, often showing what many people would consider unpromising material for photography. When Dave comes upon these places he enjoys working amongst them to produce images of interest not only to himself but also to others who view them.

Masai Visions

Bob will show us the images from his exhibitions, which promote the Masai Charity (www.aangserian.org.uk) This is unique work for most of the photo-opportunities were only allowed because the village people knew why he was pointing his camera at them.  Also included are over 30 international acceptances, some of which were taken by the Maasai students and published by the RPS.  An emotive and insightful evening where image quality probably takes second place after the visual message of hope.

Impressionism in Vision & Photography

An emotional and exciting look at how vision is used in photography.  Without it photography would be dull.  With a background in neurology and neurosurgery John first examines briefly, and illustrates, the aspects of vision from which we gain impressions, and also mistaken impressions.  Then follow points about the way in which photography can mimic and also enhance impressions using basic methods and materials.

Did the judge get it right?!

Please bring back some of the images that you entered into this seasons competition irrespective of the marks obtained.  We will then have a discussion about what the judge said, whether they were right or whether they completely missed the point and failed to identify the purpose that you were trying to portray.

A Photographic tour of Chile 2003

Gaston is well known to BCC, normally as a judge, but this year we will see his show, which illustrates a Tour of Chile he undertook in late 2003.  It’s intended to be seen as a record of the places, which Gaston visited and photographed.  With very few exceptions the images are without digital manipulation other than the usual Levels and Colour Balance corrections.

More Walks with my Camera

Rod returns to Bracknell with his monochrome prints from the Thames Valley, the Chilterns and from further afield.  Rod is a keen walker and has produced many monochrome photos of the landscape around his home in Maidenhead, but also in his native Wales and in Iceland where he has been a regular visitor since the 80's.  He is an entertaining speaker and his talks appeal not just to photographers, but also to anyone who likes being out of doors.
